Artificial Natural Ponds or Pools

They seem to be called "natural ponds" or "natural pools" but they are not naturally created, hence the "artificial natural ponds or pools" title.
I have been reading more about these and am very interested in building a pond in my backyard for my animals and for my family. I will probably use this thread to discuss what I find on the topic.
